Monthly Archives: June 2014

Submit your stories, artwork, videos and more and help celebrate International Day of the Girl 2014!

Attention girls! We need you to celebrate the International Day of the Girl 2014 with us by sending in your original day of the girlpoems, stories, artwork, videos, photos, songs or declarations about what it means to be a girl where you live!

A diverse selection from all the entries received will be performed live by girls at the United Nations office in New York City on Friday, October 10, 2014. Submissions must be received by Friday, Aug. 1. Submission details can be found here.

International Day of the Girl is a way to celebrate girls everywhere and show their voice to others.  Help that voice be heard by sending in your stories!

Flag Ceremony Etiquette

In honor of Flag Day, which is celebrated on June 14, we are sharing some great flag ceremony tips with our troops. Click here to learn more about flag etiquette.

A flag ceremony honors the American flag as the symbol of our country, representing all the hopes, dreams and people it consists of. If your troop includes girls from other countries, you can honor their flags too by holding an international flag ceremony.

Troops can order flags through their local council shops, located at one of our four service centers.
