Part-Time Program Managers- Outreach and Grant-Funded Initiatives

Girl Scouts Carolinas Peaks to Piedmont has an immediate opening for two (2)  Part Time Program Managers – Outreach and Grant Funded Initiatives,  one based in our Asheville Service Center, serving the western region and one based in our Triad Service Center, serving Davidson and Randolph counties.

The Program Manager will be accountable for design and delivery of targeted programs to develop, retain and increase membership throughout the assigned jurisdiction. S/he will work closely with community partners to deliver the Girl Scout Leadership Experience in diverse settings using multiple program delivery methods and may recruit and supervise both paid and volunteer service delivery personnel.

Our Program Manager will be a results-oriented, creative thinking problem solver and a great team player.  The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in a recreation, education or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and directly related experience.  The position requires a minimum of two years experience in a youth program development/delivery with demonstrated competency in community development, planning and problem solving/conflict management.  A strong working knowledge of Girl Scout program, standards, mission and systems is highly desirable.

Computer literacy, excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks are required. Public speaking, networking and organization skills are also essential for a successful candidate. Our preferred candidate will reside in and have established community contacts within the communities they serve.

Part-Time Teams Services Representative

Girl Scouts Carolinas Peaks to Piedmont has a current opening for a Part-Time Team Services Representative in our Hickory Service Center.

The team services representative will greet and assist telephone and in-person visitors, process incoming and outgoing mail, provide data entry, receipting, financial deposits, assist members/customers in our retail store and provide general service duties. The part-time TSR will also provide support to the CEO including correspondence, scheduling, filing and assistance with board of directors’ communication.  This position is for 26 hours per week, Monday through Thursday. The specific hours to be regularly scheduled are flexible and can either be a morning or afternoon shift. Willingness and ability to work occasional hours outside of the regular schedule, and ability to travel to locations throughout the council jurisdiction is required.

Qualifications include an associate’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience and three years demonstrated experience in a customer service position.  Excellent verbal and written communications skills, attention to detail, proficiency with MS Office applications, data entry skills, an acceptable driving history/criminal background check and a willingness to join Girl Scouting and model behavior consistent with the Girl Scout Mission, Promise and Law are also required.  Experience with the Girl Scouting is highly desirable!

Program Specialist/Assistant Camp Director

Girl Scouts Carolinas Peaks to Piedmont is seeking a qualified Program Specialist/Assistant Camp Director for Keyauwee Program Center in Sophia, NC. The program specialist will be joining a fun, friendly, energetic and hard working team who always keeps campers as the number one priority. Primary responsibilities include the management and hosting of troop camping; recruiting and supervising seasonal staff; communicating with client troops, families, volunteers and members; and camper recruitment and retention. The program specialist will also plan and implement programs, supervise summer activities and provide activity facilitation, which may include the climbing wall, life guarding, and The Alpine Tower, among others. Some basic maintenance duties including cleaning and organizing sites, assistance at the equestrian barn and weed eating/mowing are also duties of this position.

Our new team member will have a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and at least two years of experience in a youth development setting, including staff supervision. A team player that is honest, has a strong work ethic, is solution oriented and possesses a positive attitude. Ability to work with a variety of people, valuing differences and pluralism.  Belief in the purpose, values and mission of GSUSA and GSCP2P and a willingness to join and/or maintain membership in GSUSA.  Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving history and criminal background check required.  Ability to work in an outdoor camp setting with regular exposure to heat, humidity, cold and rainy weather.  Year-round, full-time position with benefits.  Onsite housing is provided and required. Recruitment Manager

This position reports to Jaclyn Johnson, Director of Membership Development, and will serve on a cross-functional team accountable for membership growth through recruitment and retention of girl members and adult volunteers in the assigned geographic area.  Serving as the primary point of contact to external audiences, the recruitment manager will develop and implement plans to increase membership, promote the image of Girl Scouting in the community and broaden the base of community partnerships and support.

Our recruitment manager will be a goal-oriented team player with a positive attitude and a strong work ethic. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and directly related experience.  The position requires a minimum of two years experience in a marketing, recruitment and/or volunteer management with demonstrated human relations skills.  A strong working knowledge of Girl Scout program, standards, mission and systems is highly desirable.

Director of Outdoor Program & Camp Properties

Girl Scouts Carolinas Peaks to Piedmont has an immediate opening for a Director of Outdoor Program and Camp Properties.   The director is responsible for overall management and growth in quality and utilization of our three high-capacity program centers and serves as the supervisor for all council outdoor program and camp property.  GSCP2P owns and operates three program centers:  Keyauwee Program Center (Sophia, NC), Camp Ginger Cascades (Lenoir, NC), and Camp Pisgah (Brevard, NC).  While there is flexibility in the primary office location (Triad area, Asheville, Gastonia, or Hickory, NC), we prefer an candidate who will work based from our Hickory Service Center for a more central location to each of our program centers.

Our new team member will be a creative, solution-oriented leader with a positive attitude, who has demonstrated success in motivating a team of full-time direct and indirect reports and 100+ seasonal team members to deliver an exceptional outdoor program for girls in a high-capacity camp model.  We are looking for a minimum of five years progressively responsible experience managing programs and properties in a camp setting.  Experience with high-capacity camping model and multiple program sites is strongly preferred.  At least three years demonstrated experience in supervising staff, budget administration, project management and maintenance administration are required.

A bachelor’s degree in recreation management, outdoor resource management,  non-profit management or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and directly related experience is required. Graduate degree is preferred.  A strong working knowledge of the Girl Scout program and mission is highly desirable.  Computer literacy, excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks are required. Public speaking, networking and organization skills are also essential for a successful candidate.  The hiring range is mid to high $40s.

Property Manager- Keyauwee Program Center

Girl Scouts Carolinas Peaks to Piedmont is seeking a qualified Property Manager for Keyauwee Program Center, in Sophia, NC. The Property Manager  will ensure the efficient and safe operation of the facilities and property of Keyauwee Program Center.  The incumbent practices preventative risk management, maintains the property and equipment, manages property development and natural areas, maintains outdoor and indoor program facilities and performs or supervises all activities related to site maintenance as needed. The Property  Manager must have exemplary customer service skills and be naturally customer focused.

Qualifications: 5+ years experience with plant/facility management including supervision of staff and contract/subcontractors,  ability to plan and organize and computer skills a must. Very desired would be a current certification/ license in a trade,  i.e., plumbing, electrical, building. Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving history & criminal background check required.  A team player that is honest, has a strong work ethic, is solution oriented and possess a positive attitude. Ability to work with a variety of people and sensitivity to pluralism issues. Belief in the purpose, values and mission of GSUSA and GSCP2P. Ability to work in the outdoors, which includes regular exposure to heat and humidity, cold and rain.   Hiring range is low to mid 30s.  Onsite housing at Keyauwee is required.

Temporary Program Providers

Girl Scouts Carolinas Peaks to Piedmont is currently searching for temporary (seasonal) part-time program providers in Asheville, Catawba County, Gastonia, Greensboro, Winston-Salem and High Point. Program providers are responsible for providing and implementing Girl Scout program for identified, underserved girl populations in the council. The Girl Scout program will include regular meetings following the Girl Scout Leadership Experience, academic tutoring, summer camp experiences and cookie program participation. Multiple positions are available for each location, with hours varying from 5-15 per week. Position duration can be from six weeks up to eight months.

Major Accountabilities include:

  • Plan and implement assigned programs utilizing the Girl Scout Leadership Experience
  • Implement, monitor and report outcome measurements for all programs and administer pre- and post-surveys
  • Keep accurate records and complete required reports in a timely manner
  • Ensure all activities follow GSCP2P and GSUSA policies and standards
  • Maintain regular communication with parents/guardians
  • Attend council-sponsored meetings, trainings and events, as deemed appropriate by outreach staff
  • Maintain effective group/meeting management including conflict resolution
