Cherokee Experience @ Oconaluftee Indian Village

Take a trip through time to experience a piece of Cherokee history. As you explore the Oconaluftee Indian Village, you will discover Cherokee culture, native dress, crafts and lifestyles. Tours of the village will start at 1 p.m. Groups may have staggered admission times. During your trip, you may want to check out the other fun opportunities in Cherokee. Visit one of Cherokee’s tasty lunch spots or pack your own. If you are interested in camping nearby, there are many private campgrounds.

Outdoor Cooking @ Keyauwee Program Center
Sep 27 @ 3:00 pm – 6:30 pm

Cooking a simple meal on fire and camp stove, sanitation and food storage- you’ll be prepared to guide girls to cook outdoors. This course completes the Cook Out License, allowing girls to build and cook over fires.

BRING: Plastic or metal dishes/silverware in a mesh bag (an onion or orange bag works great!)

Tenting @ Keyauwee Program Center

Required of an adult before taking a troop camping where girls sleep in tents or at a location outside of GSCP2P camp. Includes tents, tarps, knots. Learn how to partner with girls to tent camp.

Pre-requisites: Be Safe, Be Ready online courses, Fire Building and Outdoor Cooking OR also register to take Fire Building and Outdoor Cooking on the same day. Staying overnight is optional. Facilitators will be staying overnight and during the evening will be offering banana boats, along with tips and anecdotes on camping with young girls.

BRING: Clothing for weather. If staying overnight, bring sleeping bag/pad, plastic or metal dishes, toiletries, etc.

Gold/Silver Award Adult Learning Opportunity @ The Girl Scout Learning Center

Are you working with girls who are earning the Gold Award or Silver Award? The Silver and Gold Award Adult Learning Opportunities are required for all troop leaders/advisors working with girls earning those awards.

In this combination class, both awards will be covered. Learn about steps, timelines, determining needs, difference between community service and Take Action projects and more! Discuss how to get started, receive and review the GSCP2P Gold Award and Silver Award information packets and the accompanying Gold and Silver Award adult volunteer guides. Please note: We have launched the online Gold and Silver Award Adult Learning Opportunity, in addition to in-person sessions.

Techbridge Complete Introduction @ Macedonia Lutheran Church

Interested in learning more about facilitating Techbridge for girls in a troop or an event setting? Now’s your chance! Take part in the “Techbridge Complete Introduction” class to learn about all five of the Techbridge boxes and how to facilitate girls through hands-on activities and career opportunities. During this class, you will be able to take home some hands-on activities from a few of the boxes, as well as tips on how to set up career exploration activities that include field trips to companies and classroom visits by role models. Course fee covers materials used for YOUR scientific explorations as well as goodies to take home! If you are interested in a training on a specific box in your area, please contact Valerie Wooten.

Join us for the second annual council-wide camporee! Girls will participate in activities that will challenge their mind, body and Girl Scout skills. Most activities will be included in registrations; some have a small fee. Troops are welcome to come as a group, or girls are welcome to come with a registered adult of their choice. *NOTE – Troops who earned the Early Bird status by June 16 get first priority for this popular annual event. Please see options below for fees and sleeping options.
