FEE: $50 for girls, ages 11 and older and adults; $25 for girls ages 3-10

BRING: sleeping bag, pillow, flashlight, change of clothes, pajamas, toiletries, day pack, rain gear, water bottle, tennis shoes and suitable clothing for the weather

Advanced and in-depth first aid for people who are more than 30 minutes from medical assistance. Course meets Girl Scout Level 2 requirements for Safety Activity Checkpoints if participant has current CPR.

 ADULT FEE: $115

You will learn to cook a simple meal on a fire and camp stove, as well as best practices for sanitation and food storage. You’ll be prepared to guide girls to cook outdoors. This course completes the Cook Out license, allowing girls to build and cook over fires.

An emergency can happen anytime. What would you do in case of an emergency? Bring the family along to this safety expo where you will meet local police, fire and EMS responders. You’ll get to tour the rigs, learn basic first aid, make your own first aid kit to take home, discover what to do during severe weather, meet a disaster response team, learn basic self defense and more! This is a serious topic but a super fun, hands-on program where you’ll learn a lot. It’s expo-style with some scheduled presentations. Each participant gets a canvas bag for all the goodies and info you’ll pick up. Girl Scout Daisies will work on their Safety Award and earn the Gerri the Geranium petal. Girl Scout Brownies will work on their Safety Award and earn their First Aid Badge. Girl Scout Juniors will work on their Safety Award and complete three steps of their First Aid Badge.

Citizen Scientist @ North Carolina Arboretum

We need girl scientists! Get your notebook and pencil and meet us at the North Carolina Arboretum. Help the staff at the Arboretum conduct science projects and then upload your findings to an online citizen science network. Share your findings with people all around the world. Girls are welcome to attend without adults in attendance. Arboretum educators serve as adults required for safety ratios; prefer no more than two Girl Scout leaders. Girl Scouts are encouraged with groups/troops that register together to meet safety ratios. Parking fee waived for participants.
