Keyauwee Program Center – Family Camp @ Keyauee Program Center

Grab your family members and head down to camp to enjoy all your favorite activities from boats to climbing wall to archery. Don’t forget to spend time lying around the pool, too! We’ll provide all meals, staff and supplies – you just bring yourself!

GRADE LEVEL: All Girl Scouts (grades K-12) and adults, siblings

ADULT FEE: $50

BRING: sleeping bag, pillow, flashlight, pajamas, toiletries, change of clothes, water bottle, rain gear, tennis shoes and suitable clothes for the weather

Baseball, Fireworks and Camping – Asheville Tourists @ McCormick Field
Aug 15 @ 6:45 pm – Aug 16 @ 7:45 am

Catch some fun with the Asheville Tourists, including a pre-game Girl Scout parade, post-game fireworks and the opportunity to campout on the field. Purchase the Girl Scout package for just $10, which includes a general admission ticket, souvenir patch and meal voucher (hot dog, chips and drink). Parents and families are welcome to purchase admission tickets for only $5. To register, e-mail Michelle Buss or call 828-258-0428 ext. 214. If your troop is interested in camping out on the field, be sure let Michelle know when registering. Tents allowed but no stakes, please. Dads/male volunteers are welcome to camp out as long as separate sleeping areas are maintained.

An enrichment, skill building and update event for Adult Learning Facilitators (ALFs) and the Larger Learning Team. A chance to meet, work with and learn from other facilitators across the council.

Girl Scout Day at Mountain Gateway Museum @ Mountain Gateway Museum and Heritage Center

Travel back in time at the Mountain Gateway Museum and Heritage Center experiencing life in the mountains during early American times. Explore a 19th century cabin and the unique exhibits representing early mountain life. Try your hand at traditional handicrafts like paper quilling and candle making. Participate in craft demonstrations and cultural programs. Feel free to bring your picnic lunch and Girl Scout sit upon to enjoy the sounds of the Mill creek after the program is over. Tenting @ Cedarock Park

Required of an adult before taking a troop camping where girls sleep in tents or at a location outside of GSCP2P camp. Includes tents, tarps, knots. Learn how to partner with girls to tent camp.

Pre-requisites: Be Safe, Be Ready online courses, Fire Building and Outdoor Cooking OR also register to take Fire Building and Outdoor Cooking on the same day. Staying overnight is optional. Facilitators will be staying overnight and during the evening will be offering banana boats, along with tips and anecdotes on camping with young girls.

FEE: $10

BRING: Clothing for weather. If staying overnight, bring sleeping bag/pad, plastic or metal dishes, toiletries, etc.

Fire Building @ Cedarock Park
Sep 6 @ 1:30 pm – 4:30 pm

Camp stoves and 3-match fires, safety and simple tools- you’ll be prepared for guiding girls in building fires. Add Outdoor Cooking to complete the Cook Out License.

BRING: Pocketknife

Outdoor Cooking @ Cedarock Park
Sep 6 @ 4:30 pm – 8:00 pm

Cooking a simple meal on fire and camp stove, sanitation and food storage- you’ll be prepared to guide girls to cook outdoors. This course completes the Cook Out License, allowing girls to build and cook over fires.

REGISTRATION DEADLINE: August 21, 2014

FEE: $10

BRING: Plastic or metal dishes/silverware in a mesh bag (an onion or orange bag works great!)
