Play It Up! Sports Sampler Day @ Crowder's Ridge Retreat Center

Have fun outdoors with coaches from across the area as we spring into sports. This event is for girls in elementary school. The price includes lunch and snacks. Bring a non-Girl Scout friend and receive a special gift! Sample sports such as soccer, dance, volleyball, karate, cheerleading and basketball, as well as explore camp, play wacky games and do a craft. You don’t want to miss an opportunity to PLAY IT UP!

Want to learn more about survival skills? Of course you do! Join us for a fun session exploring creative ways to build fires and shelters. Even make your own survival kit. Rainy Day with Daisy at the Harper House/Hickory History Center @ Harper House/Hickory History Center

No TV, no radio, no iPhones – so what did a Victorian girl do on a rainy day? Join us as we explore some of the activities, crafts and games enjoyed by children in Victorian times. We will learn a little about Victorian manners and how children were expected to behave as we take a trip back in time through Harper House. Light refreshments will be served. To register, send check and registration form to: Harper House/Hickory History Center, 310 N Center St., Hickory, NC 28601. Please include the ages of the girls.

Hiking Gals @ Catawba Falls

A me and my gal hiking adventure! Grab your favorite female adult and put on your hiking shoes. Enjoy the start of spring by hiking to Catawba Falls, through a few creek crossings and over a few rocks. Discover what spring has to offer by completing a fun outdoor scavenger hunt. This three-mile roundtrip has some ups and downs but isn’t too difficult. Catawba Falls are located near Old Fort, NC just three miles off of I-40. A fun patch for each girl is included. Each girl needs her own female adult (mom, grandma, aunt, friend, etc.). Siblings are welcome to share an adult. Carpooling is encouraged.

Virtual Gold Award Girl Chat Session

Ready for the Gold? Got a project idea? Get immediate feedback and develop your proposal. Be sure to view the GSCP2P Gold Award videos prior to attending the chat session. Either this virtual chat or the in-person chat meets the girl training requirements for the Gold award.

Prior to the virtual chat, complete the steps below:

  • STEP 1: Watch the three Gold Award videos – link provided above.
  • STEP 2: Have an adult in your troop taken the Gold Adult Learning Opportunity? Before you proceed, a registered Girl Scout adult must complete this course, in-person or online.
  • STEP 3: Create your Go Gold Online app account and start on steps 1-3.

(If you don’t have online access, contact a highest awards program manager).

  • STEP 4: Participate in a Girl Chat session. You can do this in-person or virtually.

GRADE LEVEL: Girl Scout Seniors, Ambassadors (grades 9-12)

BRING: You will need internet access, a computer/device that has a camera, microphone and speakers/headphones. To verify your technology will work with the web conferencing system, log in 30 minutes to 1 hour prior to the meeting to make any adjustments. Have access to a copy of the Girl Scout Gold Award Guidelines and the GSCP2P Gold Award Handbook.

Each year, we honor our Gold and Silver Award recipients, as well as our volunteers who have achieved a Board-Approved award at an annual recognition event. Family and friends gather to recognize the service and leadership of girls who earn Girl Scouting’s highest awards and volunteers alike.

Invitations are sent to award recipients in April. All award recipients who wish to attend must RSVP. Attire for award recipients is a unifying look that includes sash/vest for displaying official pins and awards, combined with a solid white shirt and khaki pants/skirt or an official adult uniform. No shorts or flip flops.
