Take a trip through time to experience a piece of Cherokee history. As you explore the Oconaluftee Indian Village, you will discover Cherokee culture, native dress, crafts and lifestyles. Tours of the village will start at 1 p.m. Groups may have staggered admission times. During your trip, you may want to check out the other fun opportunities in Cherokee. Visit one of Cherokee’s tasty lunch spots or pack your own. If you are interested in camping nearby, there are many private campgrounds.

Join us for the second annual council-wide camporee! Girls will participate in activities that will challenge their mind, body and Girl Scout skills. Most activities will be included in registrations; some have a small fee. Troops are welcome to come as a group, or girls are welcome to come with a registered adult of their choice. *NOTE – Troops who earned the Early Bird status by June 16 get first priority for this popular annual event. Please see options below for fees and sleeping options.

GRADE LEVEL: All Girl Scouts (grades K-12) and troop leaders, parents

REGISTRATION DEADLINE: September 18, 2014

GIRL/ADULT FEES:

  • Sleep in cabin – $35
  • Sleep in tent (set up by staff) – $25
  • Sleep in tent (bring your own) – $20

BRING: sleeping bag, pillow, flashlights, pajamas, toiletries, change of clothes, water bottle, rain gear, tennis shoes and suitable clothes for the weather

Girl Rising @ The Don Gibson Theatre

Join us as we present “Girl Rising,” a groundbreaking film about the strength of the human spirit and the power of education to transform societies. The film presents the remarkable stories of nine girls around the world to deliver a simple, critical truth: educate girls and you will change the world. Thought-provoking conversations and a powerful call to action around the film’s themes will happen immediately following the film. Tickets can be purchased from the theater by clicking here.  PLEASE NOTE: This film is rated PG-13. All children 12-years old and under MUST be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
