Stand Against Racism @ Various Locations

The Stand Against Racism is a movement of the YWCA that aims to eliminate racism by raising awareness through its annual event. Girls are invited to become participating sites by hosting their own “stand.” Individuals are then invited to join a “stand” along with hundreds of thousands of people across the country that will Stand Against Racism. Go Comparison Shopping @ Girl Scout Learning Center, Colfax

Girls will learn how to read a fact sheet on each college and do a comparison. They will choose one out of their three chosen colleges to sit in a circle and explain in detail why they chose this college as their favorite. Each girl in the circle will think of a PRO and a CON. Everyone will share their stories. This workshop meets Step 3 requirement for Financing My Future. A snack will be provided.

Explore Your Financial Aid Options @ Girl Scout Learning Center, Colfax

Learn about different types of financial aid. Know the important terminology so you can understand the pros and cons of each. Learn the seven factors that FAFSA uses. Learn how schools use your financial aid eligibility and what percent of that they may give. Compare the three colleges you selected to analyze their award history. Families of attendees are eligible for a complimentary financial aid analysis. This workshop meets Step 4 badge requirements for Financing My Future.

Learn how to partner with girls to plan outdoor overnight experiences. PLEASE NOTE: Cots are available at Camp Pisgah and Keyauwee Program Center (including Leaderee and Trainfest). Other locations sleep in tents on the ground. Please choose location according to your comfort level and physical ability.
