Bugs, Bugs, Bugs! @ The North Carolina Arboretum, Asheville

Bugs help us in lots of cool ways. Explore the world of bugs with the staff at the NC Arboretum to learn what these little creatures do. Take a bug hike to see how many kinds of bugs you can find along the way. Find out about good bugs and bad bugs. Girls are welcome to attend without adults in attendance. Arboretum educators serve as adults required for safety ratios. Girl Scouts are encouraged with groups/troops that register together to meet safety ratios. Intro to Theatre Workshop & Mulan Jr. Production @ Flat Rock Playhouse

Flat Rock Playhouse presents a behind-the-scenes theatre workshop for Girl Scouts and access to Disney’s Mulan Jr. production by the YouTheatre students. Pre-show workshop activities include theatre movement, games and communication. Find your  voice, learn to project and also sing with a group. Discover your acting skills! Tour the main stage, costume, props and art education building. 

The workshop runs from 9:30 a.m.- Noon at the Flat Rock Playhouse main stage. Please plan to arrive by 9:15 a.m. The Mulan Jr. production will run from 2-4:30 p.m. at the Playhouse downtown (125 South Main Street, Hendersonville). Lunch is on your own and you will have to have transportation between the two sites. 

GRADE LEVEL: All Girl Scouts (grades k-12)

It’s Your World, Change It! @ Keyauwee Program Center, Sophia

Come to camp for the day and do a variety of activities pulled from the It’s Your World, Change It! Journey and the Using Your Resources Wisely petal. The whole journey will not be completed in this day. PLEASE NOTE: You can also stay overnight, with dinner, breakfast and activities provided through 11 a.m. on Sunday morning for an extra $20/per girl.

My Empowered Self- A Self Portrait @ Art Blooms

Do you dream of leading a wild elephant safari, training a bottle nose dolphin, playing singles at Wimbledon, back packing through Europe, accepting the Nobel Peace Prize or solving a mystery at the Smithsonian? You’ve got the power! Create a 16 x 20 mixed media self portrait of you in action achieving your goal. We’ll use artist acrylic paints, a photograph, and a ton of imagination to create a portrait of your empowered self! You may bring a snack and drink. Dress for a mess!

Camp Golden Valley Farewell Event @ Camp Golden Valley

Come say goodbye to Camp Golden Valley with a traditional Golden Valley Camporee. Activities begin at 10 a.m. and end with a campfire in the evening. A traditional campfire stew will be served. There will be boating, roller skating, crafts, Scout’s Own, hiking, reminiscing, a silent auction, archery and camping. For more information, contact Anne Watkins at 336-369-7422.
