Recycled Art @ Hickory Museum of Art, Hickory

Artist Larry Heath manipulates tin by cutting and bending to make 3-D sculptures. After viewing his exhibit, we will use aluminum soda cans to create 3-D angels that can be used as ornaments. We will also choose from a large variety of recycled items to make an animal or person sculpture. PLEASE NOTE: Must be sixth grade or older due to safety precautions. To register, e-mail Ginny Zellmer at gzellmer@hickorymuseumofart.org or call 828-327-8576. Payment due at time of registration.

Girl Scout Cookie Lock-In @ Waynesville Recreation Center
Jan 3 @ 7:00 pm – Jan 4 @ 6:30 pm

The 2014 Girl Scout Cookie Lock-In will be an exciting night where girls will work on cookie badges, make media and cookie sale materials and meet new friends.  Troops will have pool time, free time and fun activities.  Late night, there will be a choice of movies and snacks.  Waynesville Recreation Center has a pool with a slide,  a bouldering wall and ping pong tables.  So join us games, snacks, badge work, new friends, SWAPS, movies, media blitz and cookie mayhem!

GRADE LEVEL: All Girl Scouts (Daisies through Ambassadors)

REGISTRATION DEADLINE: December 1, 2013

BRING: Please eat supper before the event.  Bring your bathing suit, towel, bedroll and teddy bear.   Bring a new or gently used toy to donate for the service project.

Introduction To Jumping – Riding Workshop @ Keyauwee Program Center

This three-hour program will introduce riders to the fundamentals of jumping with a focus on position and control. Barn lessons will include learning to construct and set safe and appropriate jumping exercises. Riders must have a strong posting trot to participate in this program.

It’s Your Story, Quilt it! @ Asheville Service Center

Stories say so much about us – our likes, desires and dreams. Learning how a quilt tells a story. Meet with members of the Asheville Quilt Guild to learn quilting techniques including hand sewing and using a sewing machine. Girls will make a quilt wall hanging that can be proudly displayed. All materials will be provided.

Wrangler-In-Training (WIT) Training Day @ Keyauwee Program Center
Jan 18 @ 9:00 am – 5:00 pm

Come to Circle C Ranch to learn how to be a WIT. As a WIT, you will learn how to teach others about horses, grooming, leading riding and caring for horses. WITs must be 13 or older. There will be no horse riding during this day.
