National Girls and Women in Sports Day at UNC-Greensboro @ HHP Building on UNC-Greensboro Campus
Feb 8 @ 9:00 am – 4:00 pm

This a great opportunity for girls ages 5-18 to get out and participate in sports and physical activity. Girls will have the opportunity to participate in field hockey, softball, jump rope, dance and rugby while interacting with current 
Division 1 female student-athletes from UNC-Greensboro. Registration deadline is January 29. To register, contact Marli Bennett at mtbenne2@uncg.edu with the participant’s name, age and emergency contact information.

Geocacher & Hiker @ The North Carolina Arboretum, Asheville
Feb 8 @ 1:30 pm – 4:30 pm

Girl Scout Juniors will enjoy a high-tech scavenger hunt through The North Carolina Arboretum while earning the Geocacher badge. Plan a trip, learn about caches, trade items and explore the trails. This program is designed for Juniors, but if Brownies are in attendance they will have the option of earning the Hiker badge. Girls are welcome to attend without adults in attendance. Arboretum educators serve as adults required for safety ratios. Girl Scouts are encouraged with groups/troops that register together to meet safety ratios. Gold and Silver Award Chat Session @ Myers United Methodist Church
Feb 8 @ 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm

Attend a chat session to learn more about earning the Gold Award or Silver Award. During the 2013-2014 troop year, girls are REQUIRED to attend prior to beginning either their Gold or Silver Award project. Chat sessions are designed for girls specifically, but leaders and/or parents are welcome to attend as observers. These chat sessions will cover both Silver and Gold Awards. Girls attending the chat session will receive a copy of the appropriate GSCP2P information packet. You must pre-register for these chat sessions at least two weeks before the session date, unless otherwise noted. Fee for each chat session is $2/girl and helps offset the cost of materials. (Leaders and/or parents attend free of charge.)

Introduction To Dressage – Riding Workshop @ Keyauwee Program Center
Feb 22 @ 9:00 am – 12:00 pm

This three-hour program will introduce riders to the fundamentals of dressage with a focus on accuracy of school figures and quality of movement. Barn lessons will include learning about the history of dressage, setting the arena and a brief riding demonstration. Riders must be comfortable riding independently at walk and trot.

World Thinking Day: Universal Access To Primary Education @ Girl Scout Learning Center

Join us for a fun morning where we discover other countries, explore their culture and countries while taking action by participating on one of the United Nation’s (UN) Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) about Girl Scout and Girl Guides around the world. A snack will be provided.

Girl Rising @ The Carolina Theatre

In partnership with the Center for Creative Leadership at the historic Carolina Theatre in Greensboro, we will present Girl Rising, a groundbreaking film about the strength of the human spirit and the power of education to transform societies. The film presents the remarkable stories of nine girls around the world to deliver a simple, critical truth: educate girls and you will change the world. Thought-provoking conversations around the film’s themes will be lead by the Center for Creative Leadership. This is the PERFECT way to celebrate World Thinking Day.
