Art Around The World @ Hickory Museum of Art
Feb 27 @ 4:00 pm – 5:30 pm

In celebration of World Thinking Day, girls will make art from around the globe. You will create a Chinese dragon using shiny papers, glitter and markers. An African mask will be made from paper, paint and raffia. Learn a bit about the Hmong culture from the Museum’s traveling trunk that includes clothing and other artifacts. To register, e-mail Ginny Zellmer at gzellmer@hickorymuseumofart.org or call 828-327-8576. Payment due at time of registration.

Gold and Silver Award Chat Session @ Asheville Service Center, Asheville

Attend a chat session to learn more about earning the Gold Award or Silver Award. During the 2013-2014 troop year, girls are REQUIRED to attend prior to beginning either their Gold or Silver Award project. Chat sessions are designed for girls specifically, but leaders and/or parents are welcome to attend as observers. These chat sessions will cover both Silver and Gold Awards. Girls attending the chat session will receive a copy of the appropriate GSCP2P information packet. You must pre-register for these chat sessions at least two weeks before the session date, unless otherwise noted. Fee for each chat session is $2/girl and helps offset the cost of materials. (Leaders and/or parents attend free of charge.)

Bugs, Bugs, Bugs! @ The North Carolina Arboretum, Asheville
Mar 8 @ 1:00 pm – 3:30 pm

Bugs help us in lots of cool ways. Explore the world of bugs with the staff at the NC Arboretum to learn what these little creatures do. Take a bug hike to see how many kinds of bugs you can find along the way. Find out about good bugs and bad bugs. Girls are welcome to attend without adults in attendance. Arboretum educators serve as adults required for safety ratios. Girl Scouts are encouraged with groups/troops that register together to meet safety ratios.
