Camp Sunshine Staff Program Orientation @ Camp Ginger Cascades
Sep 14 @ 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm

Camp Sunshine is a leadership program for girls in grades 7-12. These older Girl Scouts work together as a staff to plan an overnight camping experience for younger girls in grades 3-5, whom have never been a Girl Scout and/or have never had the opportunity to experience camp. This REQUIRED orientation will give you an overview of the program and detailed job descriptions of all the leadership positions available for the event. The girl staff designs the activities, learns techniques to work with younger girls, expands their leadership and organizational skills and gains self-confidence in themselves by helping others. Camp Sunshine staff are selected by application only and applications MUST be received by October 1, 2014, to be considered.

If selected, girls MUST be available to attend the following meetings and training to be held at Camp Ginger Cascades: October 26, November 16 and January 11 from 3-5 p.m. and a required training March 21-22, 2015, with the actual event April 10-12, 2015. Please Note: If you are applying for a position on the leadership team, there are additional meeting dates that you MUST attend.

Girl Scout members (both adults and girls) are encouraged to do something nice for someone else throughout the weekend.

It can be as simple as raking leaves for an elderly neighbor or planting flowers at a church, or as complex as a river clean up or building a playground.

After the weekend, all members are sent a short online survey to share the number of hours served and the type of project completed.
