Badge & Journey Programs

We are offering online, interactive, small group badge workshops for girls as a fun opportunity to engage in the Girl Scout program. The workshops happen at set times and will complete a badge or most of a Journey. (Only the Take Action project will need to be completed after the program.) We will be using online conferencing software to allow for large group discussions, as well as break out sessions, for different tasks. These are not videos to watch- full participation is expected by all participants!

Complete your Think Like A Programmer (TLAP) Journey online and learn to code all from the comfort of your own home on your own schedule!

CodeCampKidz will guide you step-by-step as you work through your projects. No experience or previous knowledge is required. When you finish your Journey, you will have coded a Take Action Project of your choosing and earned your Journey award badges.

The Web Development Edition of TLAP is designed for girls who are interested in a Full Code Immersion experience. You’ll not only Think Like A Programmer, but code like one as well while overcoming obstacles, building problem solving skills and developing confidence as an independent coder. Sign up at any time and experience the latest in online learning. You are free to come and go as your schedule permits picking up where you left off. Optional live support classes are available daily to help you.

All you need to participate is a modern browser, high speed Wi-Fi, and a computer with audio capability. You will have as long as you need to complete your Journey.

Weekend Opportunities

Spend some weekend time with us at one of our awesome virtual weekend programs! Programs will be offered for girls of all ages with a wide variety of activities from crafts to baking to science experiments and fun games. Some events will also include a box of supplies sent directly to your home with everything you will need. Ready to come in person?

Troop Badge Days at Camp: Come on down to camp! We are opening up for a limited number of troops to visit us for one day during the weekend and earn a badge as a troop. Each troop will be assigned their own unit where they will base their day’s fun and the troop leader will receive all instructions and supplies to earn the badge. You are also welcome to hike around camp while completing the badge. If life is chaotic right now, we can also provide a bagged lunch, snack and/or s’mores for your troop. For Juniors and older, you can also go ahead and add on a one-hour, facilitated archery session! Full details, including pricing, found at www.CampLikeAGirl.org.

VIP Troop Experience

We are excited to offer a new type of Girl Scouts at home program for your troop: VIP (Virtual Interactive Program). VIP offers a personalized, hands-on virtual experience for your troop at a time that works for you and are led by our P2P program staff. These programs will include badge workshops, Journey jumpstarts, award workshops, Program Aide learning sessions and more!

Some things to be aware of:

·         Programs must be scheduled at least 3 weeks in advance of requested date to allow adequate time to schedule a facilitator.

·         All programs have a maximum of 12 Girl Scouts. For each additional participant, there will be a $5 fee Girl Scout up to the maximum of 20.

·         Two adults are required to be present during the program facilitation.

·         Program MUST be paid for before it is put onto our calendar.

DAISY PROGRAMS

Good Neighbor: Do you know what it takes to be a good neighbor? We will learn about our local, state, and national government, while playing together. We will write a book, build a community and discuss how our state works with other states. Get ready to play and learn together!

Participants will need: handout, building toys (blocks, Legos, etc) crayons, and a pencil.

Petals: Sunny and Lupe: Gather the first two petals in the series! Meet Sunni and Lupe. Sunny is the “friendly and helpful” flower, and Lupe is the “Honest and fair” flower. Together they make up this fun program where we will play games, learn how to be helpful and honest and make crafts together.

Participants will need: Meeting one: scissors, glue, craft materials, handout and crayons. Meeting Two: handout, scissors, glue, 5-10 stacking toys (Legos, Magnatiles, blocks, etc).

Democracy for Daisies: Come and learn about YOUR government. Together we will explore the different branches of government and government at the local, state and federal levels. The US government is complex and interesting, so be a great citizen and join in!

Participants will need paper and pencil, coloring tools (crayons, markers, pencils, etc.), toys to build with and Democracy for Daisies Handout

BROWNIE PROGRAMS

Pets: Do you love your pets? Learn more about the animals that we keep as family in this badge. We will talk to a real-life vet and explore the costs related to taking care of a pet. We will also build a house for a pet and create a toy that you can use with your own pet! Pretend pets are welcome too, as we learn how to help sick pets, as well. 

Participants will need: pencil and paper, crafting materials, handout, yarn, a wooden dowel, pompoms, a pretend pet, tissues and two popsicle sticks. 

Making Games: In this games adventure, your troop will try new games, change old games to make them more fun and create your own games. We will learn about how to write rules, and have fun playing together.

Participants will need: paper and pencil, handout, cardboard or posterboard, scissors, glue and markers.

Making Friends: Friends are so important to us. Learn more about your friends, or make some new ones in this badge. Together we will learn new things about our friends, play games together and create a friendship pack to send to a friend that we haven't seen in a while.

Participants will need: pencil and paper, handout, card making materials (paper, colors, stickers, etc), a small treat (stickers, snack, toy, etc) and an envelope for sending a small package.

Participants will need coloring tools (crayons, markers, pencils, etc.),  scissors, glue, handout and play dough (building clay).

JUNIOR PROGRAMS

Drawing: Sharpen your pencils and get ready to draw. In this session we will learn new skills that you can use while drawing. We will draw a face portrait, explore perspective drawings, work with still lifes and discover how to enlarge a drawing, using a simple trick. 

Participants will need pencil and an eraser, colorful writing/drawing utensils, drawing paper, a ruler, a large piece of paper and a photo of an animal (their own or one they like).

Girl Scouts Mailed to Your Door!

Adventure Awaits Boxes: Girl Scouts Carolinas Peaks to Piedmont is introducing two fun ways to compliment your Girl Scout journey, both for girls and adults, that will be delivered to your door monthly! Details for each box, including pricing, found at www.CampLikeAGirl.org.

  • Girl Adventure Awaits Box: If your girl is looking to add more adventures into your Girl Scout year, then the Adventure Awaits monthly subscription box is for her! Each box contains up to eight hours of programming for girls to complete at their own pace. There will be a different theme for each month and will end with Take Action project suggestions! You can save by subscribing to three, six or 12 months of boxes! Each box will include all the supplies for the activities, a rocker patch, a set of song lyrics and a fun campfire recipe! Your first box will also have a neat binder for you to keep all your song lyrics and campfire recipes in one place and also a circular, iron on patch where you can display your monthly rockers. So, what adventures are awaiting you?
  • Adult Adventure Awaits Box: Are you an adult volunteer looking to make connections with other volunteers? The Adventure Awaits monthly subscription box offers a detailed craft with all the supplies, a camp song, a campfire recipe and a designated time for troop leaders to virtually come together and socialize. If you can join us live, great, but if not, you still have the directions and supplies so you can do the craft on your own time. Your first box will have a special edition binder for you to keep all your song lyrics and campfire recipes in one place. You can save by subscribing to 3, 6 or 12 months of boxes! So, what adventures are awaiting you?

Girl Scouts Unplugged: Girl Scouts Unplugged is a FREE, screen-free series for brand new Girl Scouts in grades K-5 that includes 3 months of programming mailed right to your door. This "introduction to Girl Scouts" is a chance for your girl to unplug, learn new things and earn badges at home at her own pace. This series will give her the opportunity to discover Girl Scouts, connect with our program and then take action in making a difference in her community. While the series is free, Girl Scout membership is required to participate. This $25 membership is valid through September 30, 2021 and allows your girl to also participate in our virtual badge and journey workshops, weekend programs at our camp properties, our Juliette program or even transfer to a troop when she is ready. The opportunities are endless with Girl Scouts and there is something for everyone and every schedule.
