Location: Camp Ginger Cascades:
This two-week opportunity is for the aspiring overnight camp counselor. During their first week, Counselor-In-Training (CIT) II’s will spend nights in their own unit and will split their time between training sessions with the CIT Coordinator, learning the skills needed to be an outstanding camp counselor and shadowing camp staff working with younger campers. While shadowing, they will observe the unit and program staff, evaluate experiences and receive guidance from the CIT Coordinator as they assist in units. During their second week, CIT II’s will become Junior Counselors and spend their days plugging into a group of younger girls and taking an active role in leading the group. During both weeks, CIT II’s will spend nights in their own units and receive ongoing supervision and leadership guidance from the CIT Coordinator, while building teamwork skills and observing unit staff.
IMPORTANT: CITs will need to be picked up on Friday like any other camper for both weeks of their stay. CITs will not be staying at camp the weekend between their two weeks at camp.
PREREQUISITE: CIT I and admission into the Teen Outdoor Leadership Program by application. Successful applicants will have an interview and must also have completed either the Silver Torch, Silver and Gold Torch, Gold Torch, a Community Service Bar or a Service to Girl Scouting Bar.
