Location: Murray's Mill Loop Trail (1489 Murrays Mill Rd, Catawba, NC 28609)
Try this 2.3-mile loop trail near Catawba, North Carolina just 10 minutes off of I-40. Generally considered an easy route, it takes an average of 46 minutes to complete. The Murray's Mill Loop trail is part of the Carolina Thread trail and the Murray’s Mill Historic District in the rolling countryside of eastern Catawba County. A placid pond slips over a mill dam and the 28’ waterwheel of this National Register Historic Site makes its slow way around. Optional guided tours of the Murray's Mill Historic site are available for $10 per person and self guided tours are $7 per person. Since a Girl Scout leaves a place cleaner than she found it, we will pick up trash and debris along the way. In your day pack, bring your lunch and a water bottle and after the hike enjoy a picnic at the Murray's Mill Historic Park.
