NC Outdoor Adventures, LLC was founded by Scott and Christy Thrift in 2011 with the goal of getting more people outside, regardless of their skill, experience level or adventure preference. Our adventure guiding company was created out of the obvious need for outdoor recreation experiences and education. Based out of the Blue Ridge mountains in western North Carolina, NCOA offers over 21 different trips including: tubing, rafting, whitewater kayak instruction, climbing, rappelling, waterfall rappelling, hiking, camping, youth programs, wild edible plant walkabouts plus alpine climbing instruction during the winter months. This diversity in trip offerings makes our family owned company the perfect choice for many families, couples, adventurers and Girl Scouts.

Spider Lily Kayak Trip at Lansford Canal State Park
Kayak through a maze of the largest concentration of Rocky Shoals Spider Lilies in the world right here on the Catawba River in South Carolina. No experience needed. Blooming only happens once a year from May to June! LIMITED AVAILABILITY, TRIPS SELL OUT IN ADVANCE! Advanced booking is highly recommended! Trips only run weekends in May-June. Available program dates: Saturday, May 14, 2022 - Sunday, June 12, 2022.

Rock Climb and Rappelling at Linville Gorge, Table Rock
Gain your climbing and rappelling badges with NCOA. Courses include either badge-focused days or just fun recreational climbing or rappelling. All courses teach Girl Scouts knots and basic climbing and rappelling techniques. Trips only run weekends April through December. Available program dates: Friday, April 1, 2022 - Thursday, December 1, 2022.

River Tubing and Flat Water Kayaking at NCOA River Outpost
Looking for river tubing or kayaking in the Blue Ridge mountains? Do you like the no crowds vibe? Book today and choose from double tubes, single tubes, child tubes, cooler tubes or even book our four-person quad river tube! Kayaks also available. Available program dates: Wednesday, May 25, 2022 - Tuesday, September 20, 2022.

Whitewater Fun: Inflatable Kayaks at NCOA River Outpost
Enjoy white-water (class II-III) adventures on the pristine Toe River located among the Blue Ridge Mountains in Mitchell County North Carolina. NC Outdoor Adventures offers two whitewater trips, providing experiences for guests of all ages and experience levels. NCOA uses inflatable kayaks, also known as funyaks or duckies for whitewater trips. These boats are very forgiving and hard to flip so they offer great stability. Available program dates: Friday, April 1, 2022 - Tuesday, November 1, 2022.
