To enjoy a back-to-nature camping experience and/or to camp out at an established campsite with access to running water, bath house facility, and designated fire ring. At least one member of your troop needs to complete the Basic Camping Skills License. This course is valuable for volunteers who work with troops and want to help them build independence by learning many useful outdoor skills. The license is valid for five years.
If you have a pocketknife, you should bring it to the class. If you do not, we will have extras.You will also need to bring a mess kit. It does not need to be a specially purchased mess kit, but it does need to include the following: a plate, a bowl, a fork, a spoon, and a cup in a mesh bag. The mesh bag may be a lingerie bag or a mesh bag in which onions, potatoes, or fruit come with a string attached. And make sure you bring a water bottle. You may want to bring a light snack.
