Intro to Safe Babysitting by Safe Sitter is an engaging 60-minute program that introduces the fundamentals of safe, responsible babysitting. Through interactive discussions and hands-on activities, Cadettes will gain the knowledge and confidence needed to care for younger children.
Cadettes will learn positive behavior management techniques to help stay in control of themselves and the children in their care. The course also covers the ages and stages of child development, basic childcare routines, and provides hands-on practice with diapering. Completing Intro to Safe Babysitting by Safe Sitter fulfills several requirements of the Girl Scout Cadette Babysitter Badge.
Each participant receives an Intro to Safe Babysitting Student Booklet, which is included in the registration fee and serves as a valuable resource to use long after the class.
While this introductory course provides an excellent foundation in child development, childcare routines, and behavior management, babysitters should also receive training in first aid, choking rescue, CPR, and business skills before accepting babysitting jobs. Students who complete this class are encouraged to continue their training by enrolling in the comprehensive Safe Sitter Essentials course, where they will learn lifesaving first aid and rescue skills, emergency response, safety skills, and professional babysitting practices such as screening jobs, setting fees, and communicating with parents.
Whether your Cadette is preparing to babysit for the first time or simply wants to build confidence caring for younger siblings, this class provides a fun, interactive introduction to becoming a safe, responsible, and successful babysitter.
