Hey, Cadettes, this one's for you! Change the world and earn one of the highest awards in Girl Scouting.

When you team up with a small group of Girl Scout friends to find an issue you care about and then make a difference in your community, you can earn the Girl Scout Silver Award- one of the highest awards in Girl Scouting.

You can become a Silver Award Girl Scout if you:

Are in sixth, seventh or eighth grade.
Are a registered Girl Scout Cadette.
Have completed a Cadette Journey.

Steps to earn the Girl Scout Silver Award

Find an issue you care about.
Build your Girl Scout Silver Award team (of up to four Cadettes) or decide to go solo.
Explore your community and think of how that issue affects your community.
Choose a Silver Award project that can lead to lasting change.
Develop your project. Fill out the GSCP2P Silver Award Project Proposal to let council staff know about your project AFTER deciding on a project plan, but BEFORE starting your project. (You can also use this Silver Award Project Proposal Worksheet prior to the online project proposal to gather your information.)
Make a plan and put it into motion.
Reflect, share your story and celebrate. Don't forget to complete and submit your Silver Award Final Report by September 30 of the year you graduate 8th grade.

Silver Award Checklist
Project Brainstorming: Decision Bracket: Use this bracket to brainstorm ideas for your project.
GSCP2P Silver Award Project Proposal: Fill out this form to let council staff know about your project. (You can also use this GSCP2P Project Proposal Worksheet as a guide to gather information, but final proposals need to be submitted using the online form.)
Silver Award Final Report: Once you've finished your requirements, complete this form. (You can also use this GSCP2P Final Report Worksheet as a guide to gather information, but Final Reports need to be submitted using the online form.) The following forms below will be required for review and should be uploaded into the Final Report:
- Final Report Budget Worksheet: Please complete one budget form per project and include it with your Silver Award Final Report.
- Final Report Individual Response Template: Each Girl Scout must fill out this template and include it with the Silver Award Final Report.
- Final Report Individual Time Log: You must submit this log with your Girl Scout Silver Award Final Report. Each Girl Scout Cadette should spend 50 hours working toward their Girl Scout Silver Award.
- Final Report Signature Page: Each Girl Scout and their troop leader and/or adult volunteer supervisors must sign and submit this form with their Silver Award Final Report.
Photo Releases: Include the following photo releases in your Final Report, if needed.
Additional Funding Forms: If girls are doing an additional funding activity to support their Girl Scout Silver Award project including, but not limited to, a car wash, bake sale, applying for a grant, yard sale, etc. then they must sell 60 packages of cookies during the Girl Scout Cookie Program OR 48 boxes of cookies AND 10 items during the Girl Scout Fall Product Program. If they do not plan to do an additional funding activity, they are not required to sell cookies in order to earn their Girl Scout Silver Award.

Our council offers virtual Highest Award Chats where we go over resources, how to get started with your Silver Award project and project requirements. Training is NOT a required prerequisite of earning the Girl Scout Silver Award. Find upcoming trainings on our calendar.

Highest Awards Committee toggle arrow

The volunteer Silver and Gold Award Committees serve our council by mentoring Girl Scouts going for their Highest Awards. Both committees are currentely looking for new volunteer members to empower Girl Scouts to complete these highest award projects. For more information and to express your interest, please fill out this form.

Silver Award Important Dates toggle arrow

March 15: Last date to submit the Silver Award Final Report to be included in that year's Highest Award Ceremony. Silver Award Final Reports submitted after this date will be honored at the following year's ceremony.
June 1 (of 8th grade year): Last day to submit the GSCP2P Silver Award Project Proposal.
September 30 (after 8th grade year): Last day to submit the Silver Award Final Report.

Ways to Celebrate toggle arrow

Locally: Troops or service units may hold local pinning ceremonies. Girls and their families are encouraged to invite mentors, volunteers, community partners, local dignitaries and many others to celebrate in the successful completion of their project and the ways in which it helps a community. This can happen any time after the Girl Scout successfully completes her Girl Scout Silver Award.
Council-wide: To recognize all Silver Award Girl Scouts, GSCP2P hosts Highest Awards Ceremonies in May. We look forward to celebrating with you there. More information to come in the spring.
